On Saturday, August 29, 2015 – Street Beat host Karen Carter finds out what parents need to know to get their children ready to go back to school.

First, Susan Cerniglia, Communications Manager For Washtenaw County Public Health, discusses immunizations and hearing/vision screenings.

Then, Corey Shepherd, the Enrollment Specialist at Starfish Family Services, and Cheryl McFall, the Assistant Director at New St. Paul Tabernacle Head Start Agency, Inc., talk about the importance of Head Start.

Next, Jennifer Shea, the Coordinator for Beaumont Health System's Student Heart Check Program; and Lisa Pardington, Co-Founder of the Live Like Max Foundation talk about the importance of student heart checks.

Finally, Mike Morse,  Attorney and Owner of the Mike Morse Law Firm; and Marcus Davenport, the Principal of Edison Elementary School, discuss the backpack giveaway for over 22,000 elementary students in Detroit Public Schools.
