This week on Street Beat, host Amyre Makupson looks at African American Health Issues.

First, Dr. Wanda Whitten-Shurney discusses Sickle Cell Disease, who it affects, the treatments, and some of the misconceptions about it. Then, the Bankhead family joins us to talk about what it's like to live with Sickle Cell Disease, what the treatments are like, and how it affects a family.

Next, Dr. Saif Hafeez talks about glaucoma and why it affects a disproportionate amount of individuals in the African American community.  He also discusses how to watch for it and seek treatment.

And, in our final segment, we switch gears a bit and talk to Wendy Strip and Kim Simecek about the Walk To End Alzheimer's, how to participate, how to donate, and how the funding helps people living with the disease, and their caregivers.
