WATCH Street Beat: MLK Day Of Service
This week on Street Beat, our country honors the life of civil rights hero Martin Luther King Junior with a national day of service. We'll find out how you can participate in some of the activities that are planned.
Up first, Host Rob Stone from 99.5 WYCD finds out about the activities at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History from LaNesha DeBardelaben, the Director of Archives and Libraries, and Brenda Gatlin from the Women's Committee.
Then, Mike Morland, the Communications Director for the University of Michigan Detroit Center, discusses the U of M Symposium and the Center's panel discussion on "Stand Your Ground" laws.
Next, Tammy Golston, the Director of Corps Development for City Year Detroit, and Corps Member Jared Lincoln explain how they are taking an educational approach to this Day of Service.
Finally, Geary Maiuri, the Dean of Student and Community Services for Macomb Community College, talks about the 600 volunteer opportunities the College has available on this day.
