Street Beat: Komen Race/Cancer

This week on Street Beat, host Karen Carter gets the details on the Komen Detroit Race for the Cure and talks to several organizations who support those with cancer.

First, Katrina Studvent, a breast cancer survivor and the Director of the Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure for the Karmanos Cancer Institute, is joined by Roger Werling, the Director of Information Technology from Absopure Water Company to discuss the Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure.

Then Studvent and Brian Christy, the Manager of Breast Cancer Special Programs at Karmanos Cancer Institute, and the Co-Chair of the race, talk about the state of breast cancer in the metro Detroit area.

Next, Sheila Sky Kasselman is an eight year pancreatic cancer survivor and the founder of the Sky Foundation, an organization that raises awareness and funding for pancreatic cancer research. She's joined by Mary Beth Castorri, one of the Foundation's Board members.

Finally, Maggie Varney, the CEO and Founder of Wigs 4 Kids, talks about her mission of providing wigs to children who lose their hair from cancer or other diseases.
