Street Beat: Improving Detroit At Home And At Work

This week on Street Beat, host Lisa Germani looks at some of the programs improving living and working conditions in Detroit.

First, Detroit PAL CEO Tim Richey discusses the program that keeps Detroit kids off the street and out of trouble and shares the latest news about the groundbreaking of their new location on the former grounds of Tiger Stadium.

Then, Angela H. Montgomery, the Senior Development Officer for the Detroit Public Schools Foundation, will talk about the Detroit Promise that guarantees college scholarships to DPS graduates.

Next, Dan Piepszowski, the Senior Director, Community Leadership Development for the Detroit Regional Chamber discusses their program that trains new leaders and encourages them to get involved in Detroit.

Finally, we'll learn about Greening's Detroit Conservation Corps which teaches Detroiters new work skills from its Director of Workforce Development, Devon Buskin and recent graduate, Rodney Richards.
