'Altercation' Prompts Lockdown At Sterling Heights High School

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Sterling Heights High School was on lockdown, Wednesday afternoon, after a fight broke out between students.

Police talking to WWJ Newsradio 950 said whatever injury occurred in the incident was minor and would not confirm tipster reports that there was a stabbing involved.

Sterling Height Police Lt. James Belmonte said only that it was an "altercation involving two students," adding that he could verify that there had been any crime or anything of that nature.

Police were on the scene at the school building, on 15 Mile Road in Sterling Heights, but it was school officials that had initiated the precautionary lockdown.

The lockdown was lifted before 2 p.m. At that time, there had been no word of any arrests.

No further details were immediately released.
