Stein: Pistons And Kings Discussing Deal Involving Josh Smith
By Dan Jenkins
DETROIT (97.1 The Ticket) The overwhelming narrative for the Detroit Pistons' offseason so far has been that the power forward duo of Josh Smith and Greg Monroe will not work and that one of the two big men needs to be moved.
Monroe had been favored to be moved, as he is a restricted free agent who could presumably attract a max deal from other teams. Smith's giant contract has also been considered to be unmovable. Mark Stein of ESPN tweeted Tuesday that the Pistons have had preliminary talks with the Sacramento Kings about moving Smith out to California.
One source insists nothing imminent, but I'm told Pistons and Kings have discussed a trade that would send Josh Smith to Sacramento

Stein also listed a few potential candidates for the Pistons to look to receive in return for the veteran big man.
One potential scenario, I'm told, would send Smith to Kings for Jason Thompson and Derrick Williams. Jason Terry might be another option

No word deal is imminent (yet) but Sacramento's well-known fondness for Rajon Rondo would help explain Kings' interest in his buddy JSmoove

One thing is for sure, if the Pistons could find a suitor to take on Smith's enormous contract after just one season, it would rival Dave Dombroski dumping Prince Fielder in Texas.
