State Shuts Down In-Home Day Care Amid Child Death Investigation
KENTWOOD, Mich. (AP) - The state has shut down an in-home day care in western Michigan following the death of an infant who had recently been cared for there.
Police in Grand Rapids and the suburb of Kentwood say Thursday they're working together on the investigation following the Feb. 19 death.
Police responded that day to a call for a medical emergency at the 3 1/2-month-old's Grand Rapids home and the child was pronounced dead. WOOD-TV identifies the boy as Cooper Fales and says he was already in a car safety seat with a blanket over the top for warmth when his father got him at the day care.
Investigators are working to determine where and how the child died. The state says it found violations at the day care but didn't disclose details.
