State Police Trooper, Passenger On Ride-Along Seriously Hurt In I-75 Crash

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Michigan State Police trooper and a second person were seriously hurt in accident along southbound I-75 at Caniff in Hamtramck.

The crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday while the second injured party was on a ride-along with the officer.

Southbound I-75 was closed at Caniff following the crash that involved one state police car and one other vehicle. Both the officer and his passenger were hospitalized in serious condition.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle — allegedly at fault for the collision — was not injured. There were no further details immediately available about what led to the crash.

No names have been released.
