Sporting Goods Store Offers Health Exams To Hunters

CLARE, Mich. (AP) - A sporting goods store in northern Michigan is inviting male hunters to check their health while they check their guns.

Staff from local hospitals will be at Jay's Sporting Goods in Gaylord and Clare on Friday for free blood pressure exams and cholesterol tests. More than 100 people participated in 2015.

Suzanne Miller Allen of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan says it's a convenient way for hunters to ensure they're ready for the woods and water. The traditional firearm deer season starts in less than two weeks.

A crossbow will be raffled at both stores and gift cards will be awarded each hour.
