Southfield Singing Talent Among Finalists On 'Idol'

DETROIT (WWJ) - Some local talent makes it to "American Idol." Malaya Watson from Southfield talked to Ryan Seacrest while waiting after she sang.

She was asked by Seacrest about the 'vibe' during the evening performance:

"Right now, we are all, like, we're happy for each other, but at the same time we're like, "Alright, c'om, c'om ...I didn't come here for nothing," in the end it's all good because we all made it this far so that means something," she said.

Malaya Watson is one of 15 female finalists on the show. The group will be narrowed down to ten, on Thursday's show.
