Southfield Man Charged In Suspected Drunk Driving Crash That Killed Wife

DETROIT (WWJ) - A 48-year-old Southfield man has been charged in connection with a suspected drunk driving crash that took the life of his 44-year-old wife.

Marcus Oman Glenn is expected to appear in court Thursday morning on a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol causing death.

The accident happened on February 4 around 11:20 p.m. on Jefferson Avenue near Griswold, across from Hart Plaza in Detroit.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy alleges that Glenn was driving drunk when his Suburban crashed into a concrete median wall. Hatta Olivia Funches, who was sitting in the back seat and not using a seatbelt, "flew into the dashboard" during the collision, according to police.

Funches was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash. Glenn, a well-known local artist, was taken into custody at the scene.
