Southfield fire station temporarily closed due to mold

CBS News Detroit Digital Brief for Oct. 23, 2023

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - One of Southfield's fire stations remains temporarily closed due to mold after a water main break.

In a statement on Monday, the city says mold was found at fire station No. 3, located at 20135 W. 12 Mile Road.

"As a result, the station is currently closed while remediation takes place, which is expected to be completed by the end of the week," the city said.

"In the interim, personnel and resources have been relocated at other stations to help minimize response times and citywide coverage, including Lathrup Village. The Southfield Fire Department may experience a slight delay to emergency response due to the temporary closure."
