Son Of US Rep. John Conyers Found Safe In Texas

DETROIT (WWJ) - The youngest son of U.S. Representative John Conyers and Monica Conyers is safe with family this morning after being missing since earlier this week.

Houston Police tell WWJ Newsradio 950 Friday morning that Carl Conyers was found safe in Texas, where the 21-year-old attends college. Other details about his recovery were not released.

Police say Carl Conyers is now safely back with his mother, who flew out to Houston when she heard her son was missing. His girlfriend, Daisha Lewis, confirmed the news on her Facebook page, thanking everyone who helped in the search.

Carl Conyers was reported missing on Wednesday after last being seen by his roommate on Tuesday afternoon. Lewis said he left behind everything -- his phone, debit card, car keys and computer.

Carl Conyers is the youngest son of John Conyers, a Detroit Democrat who was elected to Congress in 1964 and is its longest-serving member.
