Snowmobiler Dies After Being Run Over By Pickup Truck

BAY MILLS, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 61-year-old snowmobiler has died after crashing and being run over by a pickup truck in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The Chippewa County sheriff's department says Louis Monaweck of Battle Creek was riding in an oncoming lane of traffic near Bay Mills on Tuesday when the truck heading the other direction crested a hill.

Investigators say Monaweck swerved to get out of the way, hit a snow bank and was thrown from the snowmobile before being hit by the truck. The department says a group of snowmobiles was along the road at the time, but others were riding in the same direction as traffic.

Authorities say there's no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the truck driver.
