Snow Slowing Drive, Some Airline Traffic [VIDEO]

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A potential foot of snow could fall on metro Detroit, but it's not scaring drivers according to one local tow truck driver.

Willie Williams of Motor City Towing was at Meijer and Southfield and says this is their time for business.

"So far so good, not that many accidents," he told WWJ as he cleared a parking lot.

Anthony took in a movie at a Southfield theater to avoid cabin fever at his own home. "I figured something to get out of the house, and I enjoy my friend's company."

Cities Declare Snow Emergencies As Winter Storm Hits Metro Detroit Area

With the snow coming down - crews are working hard at Detroit Metropolitan Airport to keep those runways clear.

Spokesperson Mike Conway says there is a specific plan for significant weather event...

"We typically close both cross-wind runways because we don't have cross-wind conditions and just focused all of our resources on the parallel runways," said Conway. "They will keep moving from parallel runway to parallel runway ... we have four of them, and keep doing that throughout the entire length of the storm."

Conway urges flyers to check on the status of their flight before coming to the airport.

There have only been a couple of cancellations so far - mostly due to the weather at other airports.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for all of southeast Michigan until 7 a.m. Monday.

It's not yet clear if snowy conditions are going to affect the Monday morning commute. It's also possible schools could be closed.
