Snow, Icy Road May Be Factors In Fatal Macomb County Crash

LENOX TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities say wintry weather likely contributed to a crash in northern Macomb County that took the life of a 23-year-old woman.

The accident happened around 5:45 p.m. Thursday on 32 Mile Road near Havenridge Road in Lenox Township.

According to police, a 23 year-old Richmond woman was driving westbound when she lost control of her Ford Focus, veered across the eastbound lane of travel and went into a south side ditch, rolling the vehicle.

A 23-year-old passenger in the vehicle, identified as Ann Marie Semear, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and an infant boy were transported to McLaren Macomb for minor injuries and have since been released.

Police say the women were wearing seat belts and the child was properly restrained in the vehicle.

At this time, police say it's unknown if alcohol or narcotics were factors in the crash. Snow and icy road conditions, however, are likely factors, according to police.

The crash remains under investigation.
