Slow Roll Goes Into High Gear After Feature In Apple Ad

DETROIT (WWJ) - The sky's the limit. That's the feeling of Jason Hall, the co-founder of Detroit's bike ride called the Slow Roll that draws thousands of people from all walks of life into the downtown streets.

Hall was the subject of an Apple iPad ad about a month and a half ago. Since than, the Slow Roll has gone global, with requests from over a hundred cities to start their own rides.

"It's surreal," said Hall of the attention directed at Slow Roll.

"Since the Apple commercial we've been highlighted in a hundred cities, four cities in Sweden, we're in Buffalo, we just launched in Chicago, we are doing Houston and Dallas, Texas next."

The former Channel 4 associate director says the Slow Roll is on the map.

"I met two guys from China today, who said they saw the commercial in China," said Hall.  "Two guys from Buddy's Pizza recognized me and they were in town from Seattle."

The ride has increased over the years to top 4,000 riders.

"Last year I was still struggling - working side jobs, bar-tend where ever I could - this is the first year where we've been able ... to devote all our time to it," said Hall.

There are now Slow Roll rides as far away as Sweden, London and Slemani, Iraq.
