Slideshow Of Detroit: Photos Being Projected Onto Outside Wall Of D.I.A.

DETROIT (AP) - A slideshow of photographs by emerging Detroit-area photographers is being projected on to the southeastern wall of the Detroit Institute of Arts.

The free event titled "Facing Change: Documenting DETROIT" takes place Friday night. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the 30-minute shows.

"Documenting DETROIT" is a community-based photojournalism initiative that brings 21 Detroit-area photographers together in a fellowship program mentored by documentarians and photojournalists. It is a project of the nonprofit effort "Facing Change: Documenting America."

The photographers have been chronicling daily life in the city for the past three months. In the coming months, "Documenting DETROIT" plans displays in downtown storefront windows and billboard-size wall posters on neighborhood buildings.
