Skubick: Voter Turnout Expected To Be Relatively Strong, Race For Governor Gets Tighter

LANSING (WWJ) - Governor Rick Snyder and Democratic gubernatorial Candidate Mark Schauer are fighting for every vote before the polls close at 8 p.m.

WWJ's Tim Skubick says because the race is so tight every vote is going to count.

This race is much closer than anyone anticipated, months ago it looked as if the incumbent would sail into another term in office, until Schauer not only closed the gap but pulled ahead in the polling.

A relatively strong turnout of voters has been predicted. Roughly 50 percent of Michigan residents were expected to cast their vote today.

Skubick says it all comes down to the governors race because the Republicans will likely continue their control of the legislature.
