Skipper Guilty Of Drunken Boating When Southfield Fire Chief Drowned
NEW BALTIMORE, Mich. (AP) — A man at the helm of a boat when a Detroit-area fire chief drowned in Lake St. Clair has pleaded guilty to operating a vessel while drunk.
William Jeffrey Jr. of Troy appeared in a New Baltimore court Friday. He was ordered to pay $600.
Southfield Fire Chief Keith Rowley was on the same boat in July when he jumped into the water to retrieve a hat and drowned. Two women were also on the boat.
