One man in custody after shots were fired in a Walmart parking lot

Dearborn Heights police to seek charges in missing teen case and more top stories

One man is in custody in the aftermath of a shooting that happened Friday morning near a southeast Michigan Walmart store. 

The incident started with "a road rage dispute that escalated within the Walmart parking lot," Canton Public Safety Department reported in its press release. 

At 8:27 a.m. Friday, police got a report of shots fired in the parking lot at the store at 45555 Michigan Avenue. Officers and detectives arrived and were quickly able to identify and locate both people who were involved in the incident. 

"No injuries were reported and there is no ongoing threat to public safety," the report said. 

A 29-year-old Van Buren Township man is now in custody as a result of the shooting, police said.  

The case will be forwarded to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office for review of possible charges.
