Severe Storms Could Strike Southeast Michigan Wednesday Night

Hot and humid weather is lingering over metro Detroit this afternoon -- which has many rejoicing after Detroit's endless winter.

But there's a downside to all that sudden heat: The weather could turn to storms and high winds this evening. The National Weather Service says there is a slight risk for severe thunderstorms south of I-96 and I-696 this evening.

Forecasters say any storms that develop could include 60 miles per hour winds and hail. The peak threat time is between 5 and 9 p.m.
