Senior Citizens Invited To FREE Day At The Zoo Today, April 30

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - It might be a little gloomy outside, but senior citizens are still encouraged to enjoy the Detroit Zoo for FREE on Wednesday, April 30.

Senior citizens 62 and older living in Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, and a caregiver, will receive complimentary admission and parking during the zoo's annual Spring Senior Day.

The day will feature live music, tractor train tours, bingo and a senior resource area. The day's activities will also include animal enrichment and zookeeper talks highlighting some of the zoo's senior animal residents.

The spring Senior Day is one of two free days for tri-county senior citizens held annually at the Detroit Zoo in appreciation for voter approval in August 2008 of the ballot proposal to keep the zoo. A fall Senior Day will be held on Sept. 3, 2014.

Situated on 125 acres of naturalistic habitats, the Detroit Zoo is located at 10 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue off I-696 in Royal Oak, Mich. For more information, call 248-541-5717 or visit www.detroitzoo.org.
