Semi Flips On I-696; Traffic Backed Up For Miles

OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) -- A large portion of I-696 westbound was closed on Monday night after a semitrailer flipped over on the freeway, spilling its load.

The crash backed traffic up for about seven miles, from Telegraph Rd. to the I-275 interchange.

The semi flipped near Orchard Lake Rd. while hauling steel rods. The freeway was completely shut down from about 8:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Police say that there were no injuries.
