Semi Crashes Into Detroit Home After Colliding With Pickup Truck

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say an accident on Detroit's east side that sent two people to the hospital and a semi-truck crashing into a home was sparked by one of the drivers running a red light.

The crash happened early Wednesday morning on Chalmers and Seymour streets, in a neighborhood near Gratiot Avenue and 7 Mile Road.

According to police, a pickup truck disregarded a traffic light at the intersection and was struck by a semi-truck. The semi-truck then careened into a vacant brick home nearby.

The drivers of both vehicles were rushed to area hospitals where they were last reported in temporary-serious condition. Their identities were not released.

The area is blocked off to traffic as police continue their investigation.
