Security Cameras Catch Young Man Breaking Into Detroit Home [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are hoping the public can help identify a man who was caught on camera breaking into a home on the city's northwest side.

The break-in happened sometime between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22 at a home in the 19000 block of Prairie, in a neighborhood along 7 Mile Road just west of Livernois Avenue.

Police say the suspect forced his way inside the home through a back window that was unlocked. When the resident returned home that night, they noticed personal property was missing and contacted police.

Security cameras outside the home caught the crook red-handed as he made his way inside the home. Police released the footage in hopes that the public might be able to recognize the suspect.

The suspect is described as a young black male with a medium complexion, approximately 15- to 18-years-old, 5'6" tall and 160 pounds with a short, black afro. He was wearing a blue-purple colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black and white gym shoes.
