Second Flint Man Charged In Home Depot Shoplifting Case

AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) -- A second suspect in connection with a Home Depot shoplifting case has been arraigned.

Flint resident Lloyd Wenn, 52, has been charged with first-degree retail fraud, stemming from an incident at a Home Depot in Auburn Hills that grabbed national headlines because of a customer's reaction to the crime.

According to police, a concerned customer was watching as Wenn exited the store with a cart full of merchandise. Wenn was being followed by a store employee, who was trying to stop him because the items were not paid for. Wenn got into the getaway vehicle, driven by 46-year-old Anthony Harris, and began to flee when that concerned customer with a concealed pistol license, took action.

Tatiana Duva-Rodriguez, 46, took out her gun and fired several shots at the fleeing SUV, police said, flattening a tire on the vehicle. By the time police had arrived on the scene, the suspects were nowhere to be found.

Duva-Rodriguez was charged with reckless use of a firearm for her role in the incident. CPL license holders are trained not to intervene in situations where bystanders could be harmed.

The two suspects were arrested on Oct. 9. Harris, also of Flint, was charged on Oct. 11 with first-degree retail fraud.

A not guilty plea was entered on Wenn's behalf and bond set at $10,000 cash.
