Second Arrest In 2 Months For Waterford Woman Caught Driving 'Super Drunk'

MACOMB TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A Waterford Township woman was caught driving while "super drunk" in Macomb Township.

Macomb County Sheriff deputies arrested the 36-year-old motorist Saturday evening after other drivers called 911 to report a Toyota Scion that weaving and crossing into oncoming traffic in Macomb Township.

When the woman, whose name has not yet been released, was pulled over on North Ave. near 26 Mile Road, she told deputies she hadn't been drinking — but failed field sobriety tests and was arrested.

A breathalyzer test administered at the Macomb County Jail showed she had a blood alcohol content of .39 — nearly five times the legal limit.

Due to her "high level of intoxication," officials said, she was taken to a local hospital for treatment as she awaits a charge of Operating While Intoxicated with High BAC.

This was second time this woman has been arrested for drunk driving, according to sheriff's officials. She was driving on a temporary permit due to another OWI in St. Clair County on Aug. 7 of this year.

According to a state law passed in 2008, "super drunk" is defined as a blood alcohol content of twice the legal limit or more.
