School Bus Goes Off Road In Southwest Michigan, Hits Tree

BERTRAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Authorities in southwestern Michigan say a school bus with 34 children aboard went off a road and struck a tree, but none of the children needed medical care.

The Berrien County sheriff's department says the accident happened about 4:10 p.m. Monday in Bertrand Township, a few miles north of South Bend, Indiana.

Lt. Steve Campbell says the driver was making a turn and the bus went off the road. He says the children were from Ballard Elementary School in Niles.

Campbell says in a statement that another bus came and picked up the children
