Sabrina The Teenage Witch Series In Development By 'Riverdale' Team

Attention kids of the early 2000's -- a piece of your TV childhood could be coming back thanks to The CW and Warner Brothers. According to Variety, a new series based on the Sabrina the Teenage Witch character is in development and the team behind the Archie comic series-inspired show "Riverdale" is working on it.

If it makes it to production, the show could air in the '18-'19 season.

No news on whether there will be a wise-cracking cat.

Starring Melissa Joan Hart, "Sabrina the Teenage Witch," ran for seven seasons starting in 1997 first on ABC and concluding on The WB (now The CW).

It supposed to be a dark coming-of-age tale based on the comic series, "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina." It's being set as a companion series to "Riverdale".

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa of Archie Comics, will write and executive produce the show. "Riverdale" director Lee Toland Krieger is set to direct and executive produce. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater are also executive producers.
