Rochester Hills Man Shoots Self In Head In Game Of Russian Roulette

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - A 20-year-old Rochester Hills man is hospitalized in critical condition after a Friday night game of Russian Roulette.

Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies and EMS arrived at the scene in the 200-block of Marias Drive, in the Rochester Estates Mobile Home Park, to find a man lying the kitchen floor suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

A witness was holding a towel to stop the bleeding while on the phone with 911, deputies said. He was rushed to Crittenton Hospitall where he remained Monday morning.

Witnesses told deputies the man had been playing video games when he "decided that he wanted to play Russian Roulette."  He left the room, witnesses said, came back with a gun, held it to his temple and fired.

Witnesses said they initially thought the man was joking and that he didn't say anything about wanting to kill himself.

Sheriff's officials say alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the incident. An investigation continues.

The man's name has not been released.
