Rochester Hills Man Gets Nearly 3 Years For Jury Tampering
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A Rochester Hills man has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for jury tampering and lying to federal agents.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Marcus Little was sentenced Thursday to 34 months in federal prison. The 51-year-old was convicted in September for his actions related to a fraud trial he attended in May 2011.
The trial in Ann Arbor involved three defendants charged with defrauding financial institutions of more than $7 million by obtaining fraudulent mortgages on houses in Birmingham.
Little drove to a juror's home during a long break in the trial and tried to influence the juror on behalf of the defendants, according to the government. The juror reported the incident.
Authorities say Little lied to agents during the investigation that followed. The lies helped FBI and U.S. Marshals Service agents determine that Little was the person who tried to influence the juror.
