Rochester Hills Boy Hospitalized, Hit By Car On His Bike

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - A Rochester Hills boy is hospitalized after he was hit by a car while riding his bike.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says the 11-year old was riding across Avon Road, near Livingston when he was hit by a Chrysler 200 late Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies said the boy did cross within in a crosswalk but didn't wait for traffic to clear before going into the road. The 61-year old driver of the car and a passenger weren't hurt, officials said.

The boy, who was wearing a helmet, was rushed to Royal Oak Beaumont hospital where he was last reported in stable condition.

Sheriff's officials said alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.

The boy's name was not released.
