Robert Ficano Loses Comeback Bid In Race For Judge

DETROIT (AP) - Former Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano has finished far behind in his bid to return to public office as a judge.

Eight candidates were running for four seats Tuesday on the Wayne County Circuit Court. Ficano was in last place with nearly 90 percent of precincts reporting.

In the 2014 Democratic primary, Ficano was defeated as he sought another term as leader of Michigan's largest county. The loss followed months of unflattering news about county government, especially a disastrous jail project and corruption by members of his administration.

Ficano was sheriff before becoming county executive.
