Roadkill Nights: Huge Crowd Expected At Pop-Up Drag Strip, Festival At Silverdome Parking Lot

PONTIAC (WWJ) - If you were wanting to go to a pop-up car festival this Wednesday at the Pontiac Silverdome -- hopefully you have tickets because registration for the event is completely "sold out."

A crowd of about 5,000 spectators and racers are expected to fill the parking lot of the Silverdome on Wednesday, Aug. 12 for the Roadkill Nights Powered By Dodge pop-up car festival. Tickets for the event were free, but you had to pre-register.

The highlight of the grudge-style, cruise-in event is the flashlight drag races, where 200 racing enthusiasts will race one another in their own cars along a custom-built 1/8-mile track.

The festival will also feature a show and shine vehicle display  area, Dodge Thrill Rides with a pro-driver on a closed course, food trucks, premium giveaways, celebrity guests, live entertainment and more.

The event opens at 4 p.m. Drag races begin at 5 p.m., with a new race starting every minute.

The Silverdome is located at 1200 Featherstone Road in Pontiac.
