Road Repairs From Gas Main Emergency To Tie Up Traffic In Troy

TROY (WWJ) - It's a know before you go kind of weekend in Troy, where concrete repairs from a gas main emergency will have a busy road down to one lane.

Cindy Dingell, a spokesperson for the Road Commission for Oakland County, said the northbound outer lane of Crooks Road just south of Wattles Road will be closed to traffic starting Friday morning.

"It's emergency concrete repair work that is the result of a gas main issue that happened back on August 4," Dingell told WWJ's Laura Bonnell. "Consumers Energy did fix the gas main issue and now they are going in there to fix the road in that area, lay new concrete over the work that was done on the gas main."

The lane is expected to re-open to traffic by Monday, Aug. 17.

"There will be a lane open for motorists to proceed on the northbound side around the construction area, however they can expect traffic -- especially during those peak traffic hours," said Dingell.

For the latest from the roads, stay with WWJ Newsradio 950 during Traffic and Weather on the 8s, 24-hours a day. Check for recent incidents now on the CBS Detroit Traffic Page.
