Road Rage: Man In Custody After Pointing Gun At Off-Duty Officer

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) -- A driver is in custody after pointing a pistol at another driver in a Royal Oak road rage situation.

Michigan State Police Lieutenant Michael Shaw stated in a release that a 28-year-old man from Detroit was driving at excessive speeds and tailgating other drivers while traveling south on I-75 near 12 Mile in a black Camaro around 3 p.m.

After flashing his headlights at another driver to get them to change lanes, the Camaro driver then pulled alongside that car and pointed a semi-automatic pistol at the driver.

That driver happened to be an off-duty trooper and was able to get the Camaro's license plate before it sped off.

Authorities say it was later stopped on I-75 and M-8 in Detroit, where the driver was taken into custody and the weapon was seized.

The driver did have a concealed pistol license.
