Retired Justice Cavanagh To See Portrait At Supreme Court

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - One of the longest-serving justices at the Michigan Supreme Court is being honored with his official portrait.

Michael Cavanagh will attend the dedication Wednesday at the Michigan Hall of Justice in Lansing. An age limit forced him to retire at the end of 2014 after 32 years on the state's highest court.

Cavanagh also served on the Michigan appeals court and at Lansing's District Court.

He was succeeded at the Supreme Court by Richard Bernstein, who won election in 2014 as a nominee of the Democratic Party. Cavanagh also was a regular Democratic nominee.
