Retailers To Open Early Friday For iPhone 6

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Friday will be like Christmas morning for Apple aficionados as the new iPhone 6 will be available to consumers in stores.

Retail outlets throughout metro Detroit will be opening early to give shoppers the opportunity to purchase the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, and the 5.5 inch iPhone Plus.

The Apple Store, AT&T, Best Buy and Verizon are all planning to open at 8 a.m. Friday, and Apple is encouraging customers "to arrive early or order online" to pickup their iPhone in-store or receive an estimated delivery date.

Customers could begin pre-ordering the phone Friday, Sept. 12, and according to Apple, more than four million iPhones were ordered in the first 24 hours. Additionally, demand for the new iPhones exceeded the initial pre-order supply and many iPhone pre-orders are scheduled to be delivered in October.

"Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can't wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, in a release.

Here are some of the pricing details:

Order directly from Apple, with contracts with AT&T, Sprint and Verizon with a new, 2-year agreement.

AT&T

  • AT&T is offering $300 minimum trade-in credit for iPhone 5S, and $200 minimum trade-in credit for iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C. These offers will be available from Sept. 12 through Sept. 30, and can be ordered in-store through Direct Fulfillment between to take advantage of the trade-in offer. The phones can also be ordered online.
  • The trade-in credit may be combined with the purchase of an iPhone on AT&T Next can get $200 off a new iPad. Also, new and existing customers can get a $100 bill credit when activating a new line of service with an iPhone on AT&T Next until Sept. 30.
  • With AT&T Next, customers can get a brand new smart phone every year with no down payment, no financing fees and no activation fees. Consumers can purchase an iPhone 6 for as low as $0 down and $27.05 per month. It is available for existing AT&T customers replacing a phone on their account with a new iPhone.

Best Buy 

  • Consumers looking to trade in and upgrade their working iPhone can Trade-In any working iPhone 5s will receive guaranteed minimum Trade-In credit of $300 and customers trading in any working iPhone 4s will receive guaranteed minimum Trade-In credit of $125. Customers trading in an iPhone 5 will receive standard Trade-In value, which is up to $300 for a 16GB model in good condition from Friday, Sept. 19 through Saturday, Sept. 27,.
  • Qualified customers who upgrade their iPhone 5s on AT&T Next, Sprint Easy Pay and Verizon Edge will pay $0 down for a new iPhone 6 and receive a $300 Best Buy gift card. Customers who upgrade their iPhone 5s on a two-year plan from AT&T, Sprint or Verizon will receive a free iPhone 6 16GB along with a $100 Best Buy gift card.
  • Customers must be eligible for an upgrade and activate a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus on a two-year contract or monthly installment billing plan including AT&T Next, Sprint Easy Pay and Verizon Edge to take advantage of the offer.
  • Best Buy will also offer iPhone 6 accessories on launch day with more than 100 cases, screen protectors and power solutions.

Sprint

  • Sprint has an iPhone for Life plan which includes unlimited data, and a new iPhone every two years, for $50. With a $20 monthly lease fee, the 16 GB iPhone 6.

T-Mobile 

  • iPhone 6 available in gold, silver and space gray colors
    • $749.00 (16 GB)
    • $849.00 (64 GB)
    • $949.00 (128 GB)

Additionally Through Verizon

  • Pricing for the phones are the same as the pricing through Apple.
  • Cases will be available starting on Sept. 12 in multiple colors and designs for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
  • Verizon will also offer a $200 trade-in gift card for customers who trade-in their iPhone 4, 4s, 5, 5c and a $300 trade-in gift card for iPhone 5s from any carrier with the purchase a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.
  • Additionally, Verizon has reduced the prices of the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. Prices range from $19.99 for the 16 GB 5C for the two-year price, to $249.99 for the 64 GB 5S for the two-year price.

Walmart

  • Walmart will begin taking orders at 9 a.m. Friday for the 16 GB iPhone 6. These smart phones can be ordered for $179 with a new two-year agreement with AT&T, Sprint or Verizon. Additionally, CNET reports, that Walmart will offer a $15 Walmart e-gift card to customers who pre-order the iPhone.

Consumers can purchase them in stores Sept. 19. Apple retail stores will open at 8 a.m. on Sept. 19.
