Report Of Student With Gun Prompts Lockdown At Hamtramck Middle School

HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) - A middle school in Hamtramck was briefly placed on lockdown after authorities received a tip that a student might be inside the school with a gun.

The incident unfolded late Wednesday morning at Kosciuszko Middle School on Casmere and Fleming streets, near I-75 and Caniff Avenue.

Police quickly responded to the school after receiving an anonymous tip that someone brought a handgun inside the building, which was immediately placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Officers searched the building and determined there was no threat before giving the all-clear.

An investigation is now underway to identify the person who placed the call to police.
