Reports: Cedar Point Is Tearing Down A Ride

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WWJ) - A new report says Cedar Point is dismantling its Shoot the Rapids water ride.

The Sandusky Register says workers began taking the ride down earlier this week.

Park officials are mum on the subject, saying only that Cedar Point is focused on the construction of Valravn, a record-breaking dive coaster. Reports indicate, however, that the park will reveal its plans for 2016 during a sold-out Winter Chill Out charity event on February 20.

Rated as an aggressive thrill, Shoot the Rapids "takes you up and splashes you down," Cedar Point says on its website, which still lists the water ride as one of its attractions.

"Shoot the Rapids feels like a real wild river adventure with canyons, a tunnel and something unexpected around every corner," it says.
