Report: Stan Van Gundy Hires Jeff Bower As New GM Of Pistons

CBS DETROIT - The front office of the Detroit Pistons continues to take shape. The franchise hired its new head coach Stan Van Gundy in mid-May and now is evidently finalizing an agreement with the man the Pistons have chosen as their next general manager.

Jeff Bower, the former general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans, is in the process of signing on with Detroit, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Bower spent last year as the head coach at Marist College following several years as a scout for the league office and several NBA teams. Bower became general manager of the Pelicans in 2005 and remained in that role until 2010.

Bower joined that organization in 1995, starting as an advance scout and holding various roles, including assistant coach and eventually head coach, over his long tenure with the team.
