Boras: Scherzer Turned Down 7-Year, $160 Million Deal From Tigers In The Spring
SAN DIEGO (CBS Detroit) -- The Max Scherzer-Detroit Tigers saga continues from the Winter Meetings in San Diego.
Scherzer's agent Scott Boras said Wednesday that Scherzer declined a seven-year, $160 million contract offer from the Tigers in March. The contract was the same that Scherzer publicly rejected -- a six-year, $144 million deal -- which Boras is now including arbitration figures into.
Boras "last year he turned down a deal that was 7 years and 160 million dollars"

BTW Boras saying Max turned down 7 and 160 is not news, it's the same deal including the money he would have made in 2014.

Scherzer reportedly is asking for a contract in the neighborhood of $200 million. ESPN's Buster Olney reported on Tuesday that the Tigers' number one priority for the offseason would be to re-sign Scherzer, which was later described as "inaccurate" by Tigers president Dave Dombrowski.
