The Detroit Lions appear to be making moves on the first day of NFL free agency. Earlier Wednesday the Lions signed WR Marvin Jones.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network the Lions are re-signing free agent DT Haolit Ngata.

In his first season with the Detroit Lions, Ngata played in 14 games for the Lions and recorded 24 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Detroit landed Ngata after Ndamukong Suh signed with the Miami Dolphins last offseason. Before the season the Lions attempted to re-sign Ngata but couldn't get a deal done.

CBS Detroit's Terry Foster wrote an article stating the Lions should not re-sign the defensive tackle.

The NFL is a young man's game. Ngata showed some signs of life the second half of the season after battling nagging injuries the first half. But that is what happens when you get older. Injuries are a constant companion and at age 32, Ngata is likely to be limited for as long as he plays.

The 32-year-old Ngata had arguably his worst season since he joined the NFL in 2006. He will be entering his 11th season in the league, spending 10 of those years with the Baltimore Ravens.
