CBS DETROIT - Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell did not shed any light Monday on the seriousness of the ankle injury suffered by tight end Joe Fauria against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but once again, actions have spoken louder than words.

According to Pro Football Talk, the Lions plan to re-sign tight end Kellen Davis, a move that likely means Detroit expects Fauria to be unavailable for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings.

"We'll kind of see what's going to happen with him," Caldwell said Monday. "There are a few guys that always after a ballgame are a little worse for wear, but we'll see after the next couple of days or so."

Davis, who played his college ball at Michigan State, played in three games for the Lions earlier this season. Injuries have been a problem for all the Detroit tight ends this year, with Fauria missing six games, veteran Brandon Pettigrew missing two games and rookie Eric Ebron missing three games.

Fauria continued to play Sunday against Tampa Bay despite aggravating the ankle injury that caused him to miss six games earlier in the season. He finished with two catches for 17 yards and a touchdown, but played only 12 snaps..

Fauria had started the game in place of Pettigrew, who was benched for the first quarter after violating a team rule.
