Report: Detroit Lions Reach Contract Extension With LB DeAndre Levy

While the majority of people in Detroit are talking about the Detroit Tigers, the Lions made a major move Wednesday according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Rapoport is reporting the Lions have extended star LB DeAndre Levy.

Tuesday afternoon, Lions GM Martin Mayhew talked about the possibility of re-signing Levy.
"He's a heck of a football player, he's a playmaker on our defense, versus the run and the pass," Mayhew said. "The guy's an impact player. We definitely want to keep him on our defense, very important for our football team. His leadership is also excellent, professional in every sense of the word. He adds a lot of value to us, and one of our own guys so we want to keep him around."
Levy, 28, was a third round pick of the Lions in the 2009 NFL Draft. Since then he has played in 89 games for the Lions and is coming off his best season. In 2014, Levy had 151 tackles, 2.5 sacks and an interception.
There is no word on the length of the reported deal.
