Report: Adult Moose Struck, Killed By SUV In Michigan's UP

COVINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - State conservation officers say an adult bull moose was hit by a SUV near King Lake in Baraga County's Covington Township.

MLive.com reports Thursday that the five students in the vehicle where not hurt as the moose went through the windshield and tore away part of the SUV roof.

Air bags functioned in the SUV. The moose died from the encounter that was noted by officers in a Michigan Department of Natural Resources bi-weekly report that covered the end of September through Oct. 10.

King Lake is west of Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
