Redford Woman Hospitalized, Shot At Home Saturday Night

REDFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A 45-year-old woman is hospitalized after a shooting Saturday at a  home in Redford Township.

Neighbors talking to WDIV-TV said they heard gunshots at around 6:30 p.m. and found the woman lying face down in front of the house, bleeding from her head. She was rushed to the hospital.

Redford Police Officer Shamaine McVay said, so far, not much is known about the circumstances surrounding the shooting — on the 9600 block of Grayfield Street — except that it wasn't a random act.

Reports say the suspect is the victim's husband, although McVay would not confirm that.

"The victim and suspect are known to one another," McVay told WWJ Newsradio 950's Beth Fisher, early Sunday afternoon. "The suspect is not in custody and the investigation is ongoing."

McVay said the alleged shooter was questioned, but not arrested.

The victim was reported in stable condition on Sunday.

No names were released.
