Redford Man Charged With Shooting Son In Father's Day Fight

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Redford man is behind bars, accused of shooting and wounding his son on Father's Day.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's office says 48-year-old Howard Lowry had an argument with his 16-year-old son at a home on Mercedes, near Inkster, at around 5 p.m. last Sunday — and things became physical.

Police said Lowry got upset when his other son, 23-year-old Marcus Ross, intervened. That's when Lowry allegedly got his shotgun, and shot Ross twice  in the stomach, while Ross's 1-year-old son was standing by him, according to prosecutors.

Lowry was arrested at the scene while Ross was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. He is expected to survive.  The 1-year-old was not physically hurt.

Lowry is scheduled to appear in 17th District Court in Redford Township on Wednesday for an arraignment on multiple charges, including assault with intent to murder and child abuse.
